GENERAL OBJECTIVES FOR TEACHING GOD’S WORD

“And that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15).

  1. To lead children to realize their sinfulness.
  2. To lead children to realize the consequence of their sinfulness.
  3. To lead children to realize their utter helplessness to save themselves.
  4. To lead children to realize that God is the Creator.
  5. To lead children to realize the great love and mercy of God in Christ Jesus.
  6. To lead children to realize that their salvation is a gift from God through faith in Jesus Christ.
  7. To lead children to realize the great blessings that are theirs through the Holy Spirit in the Means of Grace (the Gospel).
  8. To lead children to realize that the entire Bible is God’s Word.
  9. To lead children to realize that love for their Lord and Savior will motivate them to praise, honor, serve, and obey their Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier.
  10. To urge children to show their love for the Savior by leading God-pleasing lives.
  11. To lead children to realize the great joy of bringing the Gospel of salvation to others.
